A Sanami Defense Academy Signature Course – All Range, All Day

Shotgun 2: Intermediate builds directly on the fundamentals taught in Shotgun 1. This course is designed to increase your proficiency under pressure, reinforce technical handling skills, and push your performance into a more dynamic zone—all while maintaining strict attention to safety.

Over the course of 8 hours on the range, students will enhance their readiness, speed, and confidence through structured drills focused on reload mechanics, target transitions, slug accuracy, and engagement of moving targets.

This course prepares students for Shotgun 3, where distance and movement become primary factors in advanced applications.


What You’ll Learn

  • Reinforced safety and warm-up fundamentals

  • Ready position work and transitions under pressure

  • Reloading techniques using on-body and off-body setups

  • Multi-target engagement at varied distances

  • Moving target engagement and lead/follow mechanics

  • Introduction to slug use, including accuracy expectations and recoil control

  • Pros and cons of various shotgun ammunition types


Course Format

  • Total Duration: 8 Hours

  • Setting: Range-only, all live fire

  • Focus: Static and reactive target work with increased shooter pressure

  • Prerequisite: Completion of Shotgun 1: Basics and safe demonstrated gun handling


What You’ll Need

  • Pump or semi-auto shotgun (12 or 20 gauge)

  • 125 rounds of birdshot (#7.5 or #8)

  • 15–20 slugs (no buckshot)

  • On-body shell carriers (side saddle, belt, etc.)

  • Eye and ear protection

  • Brimmed hat

  • Sunblock

  • Weather-appropriate clothing

  • Knee pads (optional but encouraged)

  • Water, snacks, notepad

  • Personal IFAK or tourniquet (optional)


Safety & Conduct Policy

All students must demonstrate safe, competent firearms handling at all times.
Unsafe behavior will result in immediate removal from the course with no refund.


Rescheduling Policy

  • No refunds for this course

  • Rescheduling is allowed with 48 hours’ notice, up to two times within 6 months

  • After that, a new registration is required
