A Sanami Defense Academy Signature Course – Fighting for Control

Retention Shooting focuses on the defensive use of a firearm at extreme close quarters.
At Sanami Defense Academy, we teach students to operate safely and effectively inside 0–5 feet, maintaining firearm control through entanglement, clinch, and chaotic environments where space is limited and time is compressed.

This course builds structured skills to draw, fight, and fire under physical pressure without sacrificing safety, responsibility, or effectiveness.

This is not a standard marksmanship course.
It is a survival course designed for real-world violent encounters where control of your weapon is the difference between life and death.

✅ Situational awareness, positioning, and threat management at the most critical distances

Course Format

• Total Duration: 8 Hours (Range Only)

• Round Count: 500 rounds minimum

• Environment: Dynamic live-fire training with retention emphasis

• Pace: Moderate physical demand with focus on control and cognition under pressure

Who This Class Is For

• Concealed carriers seeking true defensive pistol capability under real-world conditions

• Law-abiding citizens who understand that violent encounters may start with physical contact

• Shooters serious about adapting pistol use for chaos, not just range conditions

Student Requirements

• Reliable handgun

• Strong-side or appendix carry holster (secure; no quick-detach systems)

• Sturdy belt

• 5 or more magazines

• 500 rounds minimum

• Eye and ear protection

• Trauma kit strongly encouraged (tourniquets, chest seals, gauze)

• Cell phone or communication device

• Sunblock

• Range-appropriate clothing for grappling and movement

• Water, snacks, notebook

Safety & Conduct Policy

• Strict muzzle and trigger discipline enforced at all times

• Unsafe handling or disregard for instructor commands will result in immediate removal without refund

Rescheduling Policy

• No refunds unless Sanami Defense Academy cancels the course

• Students may reschedule with 48 hours’ notice, up to two times within 6 months

• No-shows or cancellations inside 48 hours forfeit all course fees

• Weather-related delays will be handled on a case-by-case basis
